“both sides are suffering” really? because one is buried under rubble without any access to food, water, sanitation products, no fuel for ambulances, no electricity to support incubators for preterm babies, no proper beds or equipment for major surgeries, using vinegar as disinfectant, relying on phone lights to operate, has run out of body bags, had their largest bakery which received humanitarian aid bombed immediately after while the other is dancing and feasting and rejoicing and making tiktoks in clean clothes and brightly-lit rooms with electricity…

After getting over the initial shock and heartbreak of this tweet and this reply, it hit me that (and I don’t know if this is a cultural thing here in the middle east or an Islamic one)
A child has to be named even if they’re stillborn.
For a child to not be named, that means there’s no one left to name them. They were killed along with their entire family.
I hoped I was wrong, but I checked the list of victims of Israeli attacks and found this:
Israel has ended 47 Palestinian bloodlines over the course of this genocide (or perhaps more), so you might think that this little detail isn’t that important, but I don’t think we should get used to cruelty of this proportion, no matter how consistently Israel commits it.

a tweet by azadeh shahshahani (@ashahshahani) that says, “anticipate heightened targeting of palestinian and muslim community members by the fbi in the coming weeks.
if you live in the u.s. south and are contacted by the fbi for questioning, contact us at project south.
the national lawyers guild has a national hotline: (212) 679-2811”

I’m sure this link has been spread here too in some form but wanted to bring it over from twitter:
The link above has a script and a way to find the contact for your representatives as well as info on organized protests and events in local communities.
It takes no time at all. I’ve called and emailed my government-assigned-dickhead along with others and he’s already walking back pro-Israel comments. You might think it’s useless but if we put on the pressure there can be actual change. There’s no harm in doing it, and it sure beats being silent while innocent people suffer.
